It is a dream come true!! ‘Congratulations Manali! Your book is live now!’ I could only feel that finally, my dream is a reality – live. The effort and the energy you put into formulating what you feel or crystallising your thoughts into words and beading all these words to a book is something unimaginable. For me, it is my second book, and I could feel the excitement and the enthusiasm as like it was my first book. When I wrote my first book, I published a collection of all my poems that I started writing when I was fifteen. I did not know if people read poetries, or would they be able to connect with my thoughts. I received very few reviews and comments on my first book, but whenever an unknown person would tap me to say, ‘I loved this poem, it is so relatable. I felt like you know me and what I have gone through.’ These are like my testimonials. I felt a sense of accomplishment, even if there were fewer people who knew I wrote a book.
I thought of joining writing groups and other writers’ platforms and associations. It is difficult to take time out from your daily paying office job, to do something for your passion, but if that’s a passion, then it will fuel the power in you to walk that extra mile. And, hence, I did that. Joined writers’ groups, did open mics and also participated in anthologies – both as an author and as an editor – which taught me the vocabulary of writing, which is just not jotting down your ideas. Being an editor, and editing stories, writings of more than thirty writers, gave me a sense of thought process of each individual, taught me different flavours of writing and introduced me to many genres, which were out of the box. I even started participating in writing prompts and accepting writing challenges. I connected with many writers and individuals, who made me aware of so many different kinds of emotions they feel. Taken together with these and all my travel experiences so far, where I am not only close to nature and surroundings, but also with different kinds of people, who are in various spheres of their lives, I drew inspiration to write my second book.
Marigold – the Golden Memories, I gave the book this name, because memories are all that a human brain preserves like a treasure. Memories help you to recall some good stuff to lift you when you are pressed down by life, while some remind you of the life lessons – the bitter reality that you faced once, and never again then you looked back. My book is a collection of memories like that which will take you to your unique journey of memories that you still cherish and memories that you kept buried somewhere but did not yet get rid of them. So my dear readers, please grab a copy of the book. I am attaching the link of Amazon. It is though available internationally – paperback, hardcover as well as Kindle version. You have to type my book name, and voila you will find me and my work. Please do share your reviews and thoughts for the book. I will be honoured and more than happy to read them.
